The pretty resort town of Bodrum is located on a peninsula not far from Muğla, easily reachable by bus. It was once the site of the famous Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World; you can see the foundations a short way from the marina. Bodrum Castle is considered the town’s foremost landmark, and has been extraordinarily preserved. A more unusual stop is the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology, the best museum in the region and one of the finest in all of Turkey.
